Following an engine fire due to removed splash guards, we herewith want to draw your attention to the importance of a correct installation of splash guard facilities.
In accordance with the SOLAS (Safety Of Life At Sea) regulations for marine applications, flange connections of low pressure pipes for flammable media have to be equipped with splash guard facilities. Based on the MAN Diesel & Turbo safety philosophy these guidelines are also applicable and state of the art for stationary applications.
