Chimbusco and OOCL Complete Landmark B30 Biofuel Delivery in Hong Kong

The operation, carried out on May 7, 2025, involved the delivery of ISCC-EU Certified B30 biofuel to one of OOCL’s containerships. The B30 blend—comprising 30% biodiesel mixed with conventional marine fuel—not only meets the International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) updated regulatory standards but also significantly reduces carbon emissions compared to previously used B24 biofuel blends.

This milestone comes shortly after the IMO’s Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC) 83 decision, which authorized the use of conventional bunker tankers to transport and deliver biofuel blends containing up to 30% biodiesel. This regulatory change has enabled this historic delivery and paved the way for broader adoption of advanced biofuels in global maritime operations.

OOCL’s First B30 Biofuel Use in Hong Kong
