Maersk completes world’s largest ethanol bunkering operation in Singapore
A.P. Moller–Maersk has completed its first ethanol bunkering operation on a retrofitted dual-fuel vessel, with Maersk Halifax receiving approximately 5,000 metric tonnes of ISCC-certified bioethanol in Singapore.
The operation, announced on 17 October, marks a new milestone in the efforts to explore alternative marine fuels and assess their potential role in reducing emissions from ocean transport. Conducted in collaboration with the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) and other industry partners, the operation also provided an opportunity to evaluate the practical requirements of ethanol bunkering, including fuel sourcing, supply chain readiness, infrastructure and onboard operations.
