New framework helps ports manage risks of alternative marine fuels
As ports prepare to accommodate ships powered by alternative fuels, MissionGreenFuels has released a new guideline to support the safe introduction of methanol, ammonia and hydrogen into port operations.
The Guideline for Safe Storage, Bunkering and Usage of Green Fuels in Port Facilities is the final output of the SafeSBU project, developed by DBI, FORCE Technology and Aalborg University in collaboration with industry partners. It provides a common risk-based framework for port authorities, shipowners, bunker suppliers, terminal operators and emergency services, addressing safety throughout the fuel handling chain.
