Port of Santos begins regular bioethanol bunkering operations
The Port of Santos in Brazil officially began regular bioethanol bunkering operations on 19 October 2026, following the successful completion of its first pioneering bioethanol bunkering operation in July.
The October operation involved the 13,000-TEU containership CMA CGM Iron, equipped with an Everllence-B&W G95ME-C10.5-LGIM tri-fuel engine certified to operate on bioethanol. Unlike the initial July operation, which demonstrated the feasibility of using bioethanol as a marine fuel, the latest development marks the transition toward regular commercial supply.
